I tell the story of how British Rock emerged from the pub scene of rough areas like the East End, soon descending upon London’s West End with a chip on its shoulder and a point to prove. It then exploded out to the arenas and stadiums of the world, eventually becoming part of the establishment itself, settling in rock-star mansions once owned by the landed gentry of Kensington, Mayfair and Holland Park.
